One of the best things about yoga (if not THE best), is that after each practice, you really do grow and you really do transcend into a higher self. You become enlightened by your own abilities and the miracles of your amazing body. You learn, you discover a lot about yourself, and you gain a great deal of humility. When all of this radiates from ourselves, we put peace into our lives and into the lives of those around us.

TOO LAZY TO WASH MY HAIR

1) …so I’m wearing a hat.
2) Did an extensive review on the Vayus, Nadis, Bandhas, and Chakras this past weekend.
3) This is my 958th post.
4) Lemmon pepper tempeh…ugh, so good with some plain old brown rice.
5) Modification of a pose is NEVER a sign of weakness; it means you are listening to your body and you are not letting the ego take charge.
6) “Keep being amazing.” -Jay texting me out of nowhere <3
7) Keep being amazing.
8) Pretty Little Liars is my guilty pleasure.
9) Do I have any followers who are PLL fans?! Holla!
10) People around me: “It’s Valentine’s Day this week, what are YOU gonna do?” Like nothing…I don’t care for it, neither does Jay.
11) My parents made me some vegetable and TVP (Textured Vegetable Protein) eggrolls a couple days ago. They were so. damn. good.
12) Do you hyperextend in your postures? A bend is a beautiful thing and it will SAVE you.
13) I’ve been talking about food I HAD, but I need breakfast now…actually, I have some overnight oats waiting for me- half regular/half dark chocolate almond milk, coconut, and almonds. Pretty much dessert and I am so okay with that.
14) “Fly me to the moon and let play among the stars…”
15) Keep being amazing.
16) What are you grateful for today?

Namaste, radiant souls :)

Our studio is expanding and right now, the walls are covered with inspiring words! Some of my favorites are:

“Have you had your happy Camel today?”

“Love yourself as much as you love others.”

“Eat cookies!”

“Never let your fear decide your fate.”

“Namaste, bitches!”

“Yoga keeps you young.”

“Never let anyone steal your peace.”

Ahhhhh…so much love here :’)

BEING GOOD AT YOGA
Inspired by Ari (arichandrasana)

“This pose is my next goal…”

“I’m going to master this pose one day…”

Yoga practice is called a practice for a reason; there is no practice makes perfect in yoga. Practice makes practice! There is no goal pose because you’re not supposed to look like anything. There is no mastering of a pose because there is always an opportunity to open and deepen, and no two practices will ever be the same. There is no conquering of a pose because yoga isn’t something to overcome.

So how does one become GOOD at yoga? What does it mean to be GOOD at yoga? According to the yoga tumblr community, to be GOOD at yoga means to be able to do a handstand, scorpion pose, any arm balance, Eka Pada Rajakapotasanaaaa, or anything that Meghan Currie (I love her, so don’t get me wrong here) would do.

No. No. No.

There’s nothing wrong, absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to be GOOD at yoga, but what does that even mean?!

If we really want to be GOOD at yoga, then fine. Be good at yoga by coming to your mat even when you don’t feel like it. Be good at yoga by not comparing your asana to the person next to you, or the person in a video, or a person in a picture, or a yoga tumblr blogger. Be good at yoga by having fun falling on your ass and totally being okay with it. Be good at yoga by knowing there is no such thing as a yoga body or an ideal one at that. Be good at yoga by listening to your body. Be good at yoga by leaving the ego off your sacred space. Be good at yoga by meeting yourself where you are with no expectations or goals, mastering or conquering. You know why? Because wherever you are in your practice is exactly where you should be, and that is perfectly okay! And you know what, even if you can’t do any of the “Be good at yoga by…” things above, it doesn’t mean you’re not good at yoga!

To want to be good at yoga…to not be good at yoga…that’s the ego. Leave the ego at the door, keep the ego off your mat; rather, bring awareness and let the breath be your guide.

I love yoga pictures, too, but rather than trying to look like what you see, use them as inspiration and art. You should never want to be good at yoga like a picture or like anybody. By the same token, you can’t SUCK at yoga. Yoga is not something to be good at, yoga is being good to yourself.

“You are you; now, isn’t that pleasant?” -Dr. Seuss

So much brilliant light to all of you.

Namaste.

Today, during my yoga practice, I realized that the deepest and most quenching love, the love that extinguishes all doubts and all fears is already inside you, if you could only accept it as it is. The greatest love is the Divine one within you, giving you life with every breath. There is no greater love than that.

Absolutely.

Absolutely.
